PLAGIARISM CHECK

Mahabbatu Syi’aruna: Journal of Islamic Family Law is committed to upholding academic integrity and ensuring the originality of all published manuscripts. To achieve this, every submission undergoes a plagiarism screening process before being sent to peer review.

1. Similarity Screening

  • All manuscripts are checked using plagiarism detection software (e.g., Turnitin/iThenticate).

  • The maximum similarity threshold is 20%, excluding properly cited quotations and references.

  • Manuscripts with a similarity level higher than the threshold will be returned to the author for revision or rejected outright.

2. Types of Plagiarism Considered Unethical

The following practices are strictly prohibited and considered academic misconduct:

  • Direct plagiarism: Copying text, ideas, or results from another source without acknowledgment.

  • Self-plagiarism: Republishing the author’s own previously published work without disclosure.

  • Mosaic plagiarism: Borrowing phrases or ideas from a source without quotation marks or proper citation.

  • Inadequate paraphrasing: Changing a few words but keeping the original structure without credit.

  • Fabrication and falsification: Inventing data or misrepresenting sources.

3. Editorial Actions

  • Manuscripts detected with minor plagiarism (similarity 20–30%) will be returned to the author for correction.

  • Manuscripts with serious plagiarism (>30%) will be rejected immediately.

  • If plagiarism is found in a published article, the journal will take appropriate action, which may include retraction, correction, or notice of plagiarism in accordance with COPE guidelines.

4. Author’s Responsibility

  • Authors must ensure that all sources are properly acknowledged.

  • Authors are strongly encouraged to use plagiarism detection tools before submission.

  • By submitting a manuscript, authors declare that the work is free from plagiarism and academic misconduct.
